JOB TITLE: Afterschool Sports Coach (Quarterly Stipend $1000 per quarter)

Overview:
Engage and inspire school-age children to learn and become responsible adults.Oversee the core programs of the students by planning, developing, and implementing programs and activities that support the organization's standards. Must monitor and evaluate situations quickly using good judgment to assess conditions and make decisions. Create and maintain a safe environment for members and adults within the program space. Communicate with parents as necessary regarding behavior issues and events.
Develop an afterschool Sports Program for children in the Barren County School District. Our program objective is for a safe healthy environment for kids to grow and thrive within a non-competitive recreational activity. Coaches are expected to teach the basic fundamentals of the game, teamwork and sportsmanship, allowing the kids to have fun while learning the game.
Responsibilities:
- Work activities are performed in both indoor and outdoor sports environments (dependent on specific sport).
- Work activities may include demonstration of specific sport skills. Regularly required to communicate with participants. The qualification requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the essential functions of the job.

- Develops practice and games plans for the season.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children preferred
- Experience mentoring youth preferred
- Knowledge of youth development
- Knowledge or experience in related sports
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to deal with the general public
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- All staff participate in special programs and events
Physical Requirements: Helping members grow, learn, and gain new skills can be rewarding. The work is sometimes routine, but new activities and challenges mark each day. Youth development can be physically and emotionally taxing, as workers constantly stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift (25 pounds frequently) to attend to each member's interests and problems.
All employees working at a school-based location are expected to follow the calendar year of Barren County School District. Therefore, when the school is not in operation, you will only have work if specified by your supervisor.
