JOB TITLE: CERTIFIED PART-TIME MIGRANT EDUCATION TUTOR DEPARTMENT: MIGRANT EDUCATION REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM APPROVED BY: SUPERINTENDENT DATE: 04/12/24
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must have no convictions of a felony or past criminal history, be in good health as evidenced by completion of a physical examination as prescribed by the Board. Must be of good character and moral behavior. Must possess a current Kentucky Teacher Certification. RESPONSIBILITIES: Tutor/Supervise/Chaperone Overnight Camps and Field Trips Tutor individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing and implementing instruction as directed by the teacher or based on individual student needs determined by student data Monitor and maintain records of student progress Participates as a member of an instructional team including remediation teams Prepare and organize lessons Deliver instruction during the regular school year and during summer programming and document student services Maintain a daily log of activities performed in this position Monitor and report behavior of students according to approved procedures; report progress regarding student performance and behavior Perform routine clerical duties such as preparation of instructional materials; operate copy machines; maintain student records; maintain attendance records Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance Confer, as needed, with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs Contact parents of students who are absent; make home visits as necessary Communicate with parents of students to discuss progress, offer assistance, and schedule home visits Assist in the supervision of students / Maintain student control Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations Inform teacher/principal/Migrant Education Director on matters of concern Participate in meetings and training programs as assigned Perform related duties as assigned ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Will be required to complete all required training and attend in-service sessions. Performs assigned tasks in a timely manner. Consistently displays self-control with parents, students, and school personnel. Maintains a clean workstation (bus, desk, office, etc.) and does maintenance as needed. Be clean, neat, and appropriately dressed. Be consistently responsible and display an attitude of honesty and credibility. Show enthusiasm, interest, and concern for the total program and its efficient operation. Maintains student control. Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times. Demonstrate positive behavior toward the purposes and goals of the Barren County School System and the Migrant Education Program. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary is commensurate with the Barren County Schools board-approved pay schedule. The services of a Migrant Education Part-Time Certified Tutor are determined as needed for the regular school year and summer program. The position of a certified part-time tutor may be terminated at any time as determined through programming needs by the Central Region Migrant Education Director. The employee is an “at will” employee and the superintendent may terminate this employment at any time. There are no paid holidays, sick days, or personal days with this position.
