SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  

Plan, organize, direct and implement the District athletic activities, including recommending the purchase and rental of equipment and athletic facilities.  Coach or assist coaches in various athletic programs.  Serve as the district point of contact for athletic program questions from school, district and state personnel. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Must have no convictions of a felony or past criminal history, be in good health as evidenced by completion of a physical examination as prescribed by the Board.  Must be of good character and moral behavior; Any combination equivalent to:  high school diploma or GED certificate, a minimum of 64 semester hours from an accredited college or university and one year of experience coaching in a school athletic program; Successful completion of ABLE test, a criminal records check, AIDS awareness training, current certification in first aid and CPR;  Valid Kentucky driver’s license.

 

CRITICAL SKILL/EXPERTISE REQUIRED:

Knowledge of:

Fundamentals of various sports.

Health and safety regulations.

Oral and written communication skills

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Ability to:

Assist coaches on one or more sports.

Understand and follow oral and written directions

Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Work independently with little direction.

Plan and organize work.

Perform related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promote sports in the schools and community.

Plan or assist in planning the athletic program.

Organize, supervise or assist in organizing and supervising with practices.

Teach or assist in teaching individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.

Teach or assist in teaching sportsmanship and self-control.

Check or assist in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.

Conduct or assist in conducting learning experiences, with small groups of student athletes.

Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.

Recommend or assist in recommending the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.

Assure that playing fields and equipment are properly prepared and working prior to gameday.

Oversee athletic program finances

Work with principal in approving athletic-related purchase requests

Maintain appropriate financial accounting records, documents and reports

Work with other schools to schedule athletic events

Scheduling required officials for athletic events

Determine eligibility, maintain related documents and submit required reports

Maintain equipment and equipment inventories

Oversee the operation of athletic concessions, including ordering, inventory, financial records and workers/volunteers

Schedule transportation for athletic team travel

Ensure proper maintenance of all athletic facilities

Oversee the overall management of events, including scorekeepers, announcers, field/court preparations, gate workers, etc.

Create and oversee an ongoing promotional/marketing campaign for athletic events

Provide game scores and stats to the media following athletic events

Ensure all athletic offerings are within compliance of Title IX requirements

All other athletic-related matters as assigned by the principal

Receive and process all athletic purchase orders.

Evaluate facilities and submit required documents and reports to _____?

Serve on the title IX committee, and complete and submit all title IX paperwork

Complete master and bus schedules for athletics

Process student athlete paperwork –What is this?

Serve as designated rep to KHSAA and provide meeting summary reports to the principal

Prepare athletic contest contracts

Work with coaches on scheduling athletic events

Maintain a gym usage schedule

Evaluate coaches and provide recommendations to the principal

Be first line of communication for principal and coaches and parents?

Assure game/facility preparedness for interscholastic contests

All other athletic-related tasks as assigned by the principal

Perform related duties as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Will be required to complete all required training and attend in-service sessions.

Performs assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Consistently displays self-control with parents, students and school personnel.

Maintains a clean workstation (bus, desk, office, etc.)and does maintenance as needed.

Be clean, neat and appropriately dressed.

Be consistently responsible and display an attitude of honesty and credibility.

Show enthusiasm, interest and concern for the total program and its efficient operation.

Maintains student control.

Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.

Demonstrate positive behavior toward the purposes and goals of the Barren County Public Schools.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work year is comprised of the number of days as designated by the current school calendar and board policy with 4 paid holidays.

Salary commensurate with adopted classified personnel salary schedule.

Sick leave and personal leave provided as stated in board policy.

The employee is an “at will” employee and the superintendent may terminate this employment at any time.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
